Access to online services via your personal account

Access to your personal account is user-specific. All the members of your tax household can access online services by entering their own tax number, carry out operations on behalf of the household (i.e. report their income) or consult their own personal tax situation, regardless of the tax they are liable for.

Setting up your personal account

You are a non-resident and you do not yet have a personal account.

  • If you are liable for income tax or are an adult who is part of a tax household

You can set up your personal account yourself using your three elements of identification that appear on your tax documents:

  • Your tax number: it comprises 13 digits and appears at the top of the first page of your most-recent income tax return and on the main tax documents that you receive (assessment notices for your income tax and local taxes, etc.);
  • Your online access number: this appears on the first page of your most-recent income tax return. This number changes every year so enter the number appearing on the last income tax return you received;
  • Your reference taxable income: this appears on the first page of your most-recent income tax assessment notice in the “Vos références” (Your references) box. You can also find it in the breakdown of your taxes in the “Informations complémentaires" (Other information) section, if it does not appear in the “Vos références” box (for instance, if you received a tax relief notice).
  • If you do not have this information

You can only ask to set up a personal account if:

  • you have income subject to withholding at source;
  • or if you do have a tax number but are not liable for income tax (for example, you are liable for residence tax on second homes or property taxes).

In both cases, you should click on this form on the impots.gouv.fr website.

You will be asked for the following information:

  • Your marital status;
  • Your postal address abroad;
  • A copy of an ID document.

Once your identity has been confirmed, you will receive an e-mail informing you that you can set up a personal account by entering your tax number and your date of birth on the log-in page of this website.

You must enter your email address and a password that you will have chosen. You will then receive an email containing a link which you must click on within eight hours to validate access to your personal account.

Please note: If you want to report your income and/or assets in France for the first time, you will not be able to carry out this online procedure. In this case, you must send a paper return, which can be downloaded via the search engine on the impots.gouv.fr website, by post only to your tax department.

The password will be used for all subsequent connections.

Thanks to a security feature for your personal account, if you forget your tax number or password you can retrieve them by text message. To do this, you need to confirm or enter your mobile phone number in your personal account.
