Présentation

La direction générale des Finances publiques (DGFiP) représente à la fois un service public enraciné dans l’histoire de l’État et une administration nouvelle issue de la fusion en 2008 de la direction générale des impôts et de la direction générale de la comptabilité publique.

Ses missions permettent à la fois de contribuer à la solidité financière des institutions publiques et de favoriser un environnement de confiance dans la société, l’économie et les territoires.

Les services de la DGFiP sont présents sur l’ensemble du territoire, au plus près de ses usagers et de ses partenaires. Installés dans les centres des Finances publiques, ces services appartiennent à différentes catégories, qui reflètent la diversité des missions exercées par la DGFiP et de ses publics.

Overview

The Public Finances Directorate General (DGFiP) was created in April 2008, following the merger of the General Tax Directorate and the Public Accounting General Directorate. The DGFiP reports now to the Minister for Finance and Public Accounts. Its civil service staff is primarily responsible for tax administration and public finance management, with nearly 60% assigned to tax matters. Its core activities include taxation, tax legislation and public accountancy.

Taxation
> Assessment of central government and local taxes
> Collection of tax revenues on behalf of central and local governments and public authorities
> Tax audits
> Maintaining the French land registry

Public accountancy
> Accounting and financial management on behalf of the government
> Monitoring and processing of expenditure for the government and its agencies
> Account management for local authorities and government agencies
> Support for French economic activity
> Assisting those depositing funds in a Treasury account (notaries, court-appointed receivers, bailiffs, and social security organisations)
> To manage the State Property Policy

Our organization

The DGFiP consists of centralised government, departments with national scope, and directorates at interregional, regional, département and local levels. The interregional directorates coordinate actions and best practices among the regions they oversee.
